He Is Risen

Jesus Christ
I sincerely hope that all of you will have an extremely enjoyable Easter, and that you won't get too sick from all the goodies. At the same time I hope that we can all gain a greater appreciation for the gift our Father in Heaven has given us through His son Jesus Christ. This is a time of year for quiet reflection and thoughts of Him. I know that He is our Redeemer, that what He did for us on the cross ensures us that there will always be a way back to His presence. I know that He did die, but that three days later He rose from the dead and lives even to this day. He is my Savior and my friend, and I will forever be grateful to Him. Happy Easter!

First Day on the Job

WOW! I started my job at 5 Buck Friday night and in three hours-totalling my wage, tips, and gas reimbursement-I made almost $20 an hour! It's the easiest job I've ever had and it was pretty fun. The only drawback I'm seeing at the moment is that I don't really get to socialize with my co-workers. Ninety-five percent of my time was spent in my car. I didn't get lost and I was able to do thirteen deliveries, which I guess is pretty good for my first night. I work there again today so I'll get to see if Mondays are as good as Friday was.

So now I'm thinking of quitting at Guadalahonky's. I'm only making minimum wage there and I don't feel like I'm picking up the job very quickly. I work with a bunch of high school girls and they know what they are doing way better than I do. I just don't feel like I fit in very well. I would really like to stick around as long as I can and wait for a server position, but if they can't promote me to server soon, why stay?

Problem Set 6

My implementation of Problem Set 6 has now been added to the Computer Stuff page. I've had a lot of fun playing with it and I'm pleased with how fast it runs.

Another New Job

5 Buck Pizza Logo
Well, a couple days ago I got a call from the management at 5 Buck Pizza, a local Pizza store. I put in an application for a driver position a month ago and they were calling me to see if I still wanted the job. I haven't been getting very many hours at my other job and I was actually going to go apply at a few places to find a second job. It was perfect timing that they called me when they did.

I went in for an interview Monday night and I got the job! I think I'll really like working there. Janene worked there for three years so I know a lot of the people that work there and the management is really great. I should be able to make pretty good money delivering. They'll pay for my gas and I get to keep my tips. I'm excited to start on Friday.

I've also decided on a day to have our hike up Grandeur Peak. I don't want to put the date up here for safety reasons, but I think it will be the perfect time to go. If you still want in or have questions, feel free to e-mail me ([email protected]).

World Trade Center Memorial

Check out this cool picture I got in my e-mail! It's the new World Trade Center Memorial. As far as I know (from what I heard on the news) the memorial is temporary and will stand for two months. I'm not sure what will be done after that, whether a permanent memorial will be built or whether there are plans to put something else in it's place. I hope it stays, cause it sure looks cool.

I've added some information to my Computer Stuff page. You can now download my solution to Problem Set 4. I'm having tons of fun implementing Problem Set 5. Be sure and check back next week and I'll probably have that posted.

New Links Page

I've finally gotten around to adding a Links page to my site. It's got links to some of my favorite sites, as well as sites that belong (or are otherwise connected) to friends of mine. I hope some of the links will be enjoyable to those of you who can find nothing better to do with your time than mindlessly surf the web!

ANNOUNCEMENT

I'm planning a hiking trip up Grandeur Peak this summer. Dates haven't been finalized, but we're looking for as many friends as possible. So far the group includes myself, Janene, Stuart, Shilo, Jess, Brian, and Jeremy. If you'd like to be added to the list e-mail me and I'll keep you updated when we get closer.

So far the plans are as follows: We'll meet in the afternoon at my house and caravan to the trailhead. The hike up is about two and a half miles. The trail is well-kept and fairly easy going. It only gets a little steeper toward the summit, and is generally a very enjoyable climb. If we time things correctly, we can reach the top 20-30 minutes before the sun sets. This way we get to see the lights in the valley come on. It'll probably be pretty romantic (if you're into that sort of thing) so if you want to bring someone along feel free. Then we'll head back down (another two and a half miles in case you're wondering) by flashlight. For entertainment, we will be searching for spiders on the way down. We'll be using a fairly simple technique called 'Spider Sniffing'. The more people are there, the more fun we'll have. I know this sounds like 'Snipe Hunting'. You have to trust me, it's nothing like that. This is the real deal, but there's no way I can convince you now; you'll just have to see it with your own eyes (or smell it with your own nose, so to speak :)). I was skeptical my first time, too.

Everyone will need to bring plenty of water and a flashlight. If you want you can also bring trail mix or Jolly Ranchers; anything for some energy on the hike.

Anyway, I'm expecting this trip to be a blast! I'd like to do it early in the summer but anytime that everyone is free will be great. If anyone has a suggestion for a particular weekend let me know.

New About Me Section

I don't have a lot of time to write today, but I just wanted to make people aware that I've created a new About Me page. It is now available from the menu at the left, or of course, from the link above.

So, yesterday was my first day at work. I loved it! I'm working with a lot of great people and the restaurant seems a lot better organized than Frontier Pies was. I'm excited to continue to learn my job responsibilities. I think this will be a wonderful job for me.

New Employment

Well, I'm excited! I just got a job at a local mexican restaurant called Guadalahonky's (There will also be a link posted on my links page as soon as I build it...). I'll start out as a host but should get the opportunity to move up to a server position soon.
